Get to Know
Dr. Shah
Dr. Shah has been a periodontist since 2018 and prides himself on being gentle and caring about his patients' comfort. He is detailed and thorough in his explanations of diagnosis and treatment, and loves to provide helpful and practical suggestions for ongoing oral hygiene.
Why Did You Decide to Become a Periodontist?
Gum health is often overlooked by patients and dentists alike, and that’s a main reason Dr. Shah wanted to become a periodontist. Because many patients are better about caring for their teeth than caring for their gums, the perio niche is a unique place to educate patients on the oral microbiome and its relationship to one’s overall health. As a periodontist at Peak Vision Dental, his specialties are gum surgery, soft tissue grafts, bone grafts, tooth extractions, and dental implants.
Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?
Dr. Shah is all about spending time with his family and friends (many of whom are also in dental and other medical fields) and exercising and fitness. If he didn’t become a periodontist, he would have been an environmental scientist, biologist, or clinical researcher - all areas he enjoys learning about in his spare time.
Preserve Oral Health
Dental implants are the only tooth restoration that prevents bone loss from missing teeth. Permanently fused into your jawbone, implants stimulate the bone and prevent adjacent teeth shifting, maintaining your jaw's structural integrity and overall oral health.
Natural Appearance
Crafted from high-quality, tooth-colored materials, implant restorations blend naturally with your teeth for an aesthetic result.
Permanent & Stable
Dental implants are securely anchored to your jawbone, providing a sturdy, permanent foundation for your new teeth that won't slip or shift like traditional restorations.
The Dental Implant Process
Consultation & Planning
During your initial visit, Dr. Kanter will carefully evaluate your oral health, discuss your goals, and develop a personalized treatment plan to ensure the best possible outcome.
Implant Placement
Using advanced surgical techniques, we'll precisely place the titanium implant post into your jawbone. This allows the bone to naturally fuse with the implant over time, creating a strong foundation.
Healing & Restoration
After the implant has fully integrated, which typically takes a few months, we'll design and fabricate your custom crown, bridge, or denture. This restoration will then be securely attached to the implant post and abutment, completing your new, beautiful smile.
Ongoing Care
Our care doesn’t end after your restoration. To maintain the long-term health and stability of your dental implants, we'll work with you on an ongoing basis, providing regular check-ups and any necessary maintenance.
FAQ
What are dental implants?
Dental implants are small, titanium posts that are surgically placed into the jawbone to replace missing teeth. They serve as a sturdy, permanent foundation to support custom-made crowns, bridges, or dentures.
How long do dental implants last?
With proper care and maintenance, dental implants can last a lifetime. The restorations (crowns, bridges, etc.) placed on top of the implants typically last 10-15 years before potentially needing replacement.
Are dental implants painful?
While there may be some discomfort during the initial surgical placement, most patients report little to no pain during the healing process. We also offer various sedation options to ensure your comfort throughout the procedure.
How much do dental implants cost?
The cost of dental implants can vary depending on the number of teeth being replaced, the complexity of the case, and your insurance coverage. We'll provide a detailed estimate during your consultation and work with you to find the most affordable solution that suits your budget and lifestyle.
